what do i need?

A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later). macOS 26 Tahoe or later. Your own Cloudflare R2 storage (or another S3-compatible provider). An internet connection to open files you have not opened before.

why do i need my own storage?

so your files are never stuck with us. you own the storage account and pay the provider directly. idam is the app that turns it into a fast, encrypted drive. we never see your files, your keys or your passphrase.

how much does the storage cost?

that’s between you and your provider. with cloudflare r2 you pay roughly per terabyte per month, with no fees for downloading your own files. check cloudflare’s current prices before you start.

what if i forget my passphrase?

then nobody can open your files, not even us. that’s what end-to-end means. idam makes you save a recovery kit in your password manager during setup, so please keep it safe.

what happens to my files if i stop using idam?

they stay in your storage, and they stay yours. idam can copy everything back to your mac in one click, and free tools can open them without idam at all.

how many macs can i use?

one licence works on 2 macs. you can move it to a new mac any time from idam’s settings.

does it work offline?

files you’ve opened recently and folders you keep on your mac open without internet. new uploads wait on your mac and continue when you’re back online.

can i get a refund?

yes. if idam isn’t right for you, email us within 14 days of buying for a full refund.
